Sharks in the Forest by Emily B

Sharks in the Forest

Amethyst P.O.V
Dear diary,
This is my first time writing in this diary. It’s the year of 2116. Eighty years have passed since the world became abnormal to what it was one hundred years ago.  It’s recorded that in 2036 that sharks started jumping out of water for long periods of time, over the years people found that when it was foggy, the sharks could swim through the low amount of fog. So when it was people locked themselves inside for the fear of getting attacked in the open. One day the sharks made enough distance through the air and made it into the forests where it’s always foggy, so now they prowl around the depths of the forest keeping people out.

Over the years we were told not to go in the forest. Not to get lost in one. Always be with an adult. As the sharks over the years moved into the forest to stay hidden. But where am I now. Stuck in the middle of the forest lost left to fend for myself. How did I end up here, well me and my brothers were playing near the edge of the forest where we live. They dared me to go into the forest and wander for a bit, and being me I accepted. I got lost after a few minutes as I was not paying attention to where I was.

I stood still for a minute to see if I could hear anything to lead me back but all I heard were the slight rustling sound that I could only presume where sharks. People are still amazed that sharks have seemed to survive, but since they made it the forest they were able to thrive and survive on what the have. The rustling sound continued, coming closer, closer and closer, and that when I realized that I, Amethyst Roberts was about to face the fear of all people, the thing that keeps people from the woods, the things that make the animals hide in trees and keep alert at all times. I see the flash of a tail behind the trees, fear starts eating me from the insides and it starts making me think what it would be like  to be eaten by one. I see the tail again it swinging side to side sometimes hitting the sides of the trees but the doesn't stop it, it still approaching me.

I see the shark head approaching me, I back away thinking that I might have a chance to escape, but I was wrong because as soon as my back hit the back of a tree the shark was less than three meters away from me. I close my eyes waiting for the vicious attack on me. But nothing came, nothing happened. I slowly opened my eyes only to see the shark centimeters in front of me. The shark was in front of me not doing a thing, just looking at me with sad eyes like he was sad that I was afraid of him. My fear subsided and I just started at the shark with curious eyes. The shark moves back a bit, giving me space to move away. I move to the side and see the shark start to move away, I follow it, curious to see where it was going. I had to catch up as he was moving at a fast paced. I ran to catch up to the shark, a little out of breath. The shark slows down considerably letting me keep up with the shark. The shark leads me towards a cave. I was scared, I had no way of communicating with this shark, the shark could eat me for all I know, but he just wants to eat me without being found. Instead as he goes through the cave there seems to be an exit at the end.

The shark leads me through the jagged rocks towards the exit. I hear the rushing sounds of a stream and the chirping birds around it.

THE FREAKING END

Excellent Descriptive Writing

I sit there feeling lonely, even though I have of what looks like most of the human population on one street around me. I look up only to be met with the burning sensation of looking at the blaring billboards and the copper tasting smoke that laces my tongue. I just sit there with the frosty solid floor underneath me and the occasional foot on my leg or people stealing what money I have left in a hat. The roaring engines have become a lullaby to me, with the blaring noise of a siren in the distance and the clicking of shoes that drum against the floor. I try to look up again and look at the night stars, but are met with a slight glow of the city's lights, but it all becomes darkness.

I was jostled and shoved as people rushed past me. My ears were filled with the voices of advertising shopkeepers, chinging tills, drunken voices and fizzing electricity as I neared my destination I could hardly see from the bright neon lights.

I stood there, among the hustle and bustle of the people around me. I hear children crying, dogs howling from the apartments above. The lovely smell of the hot food next door fills the air as I walk through the horde of people crowding around the strumming guitarist. At the corner of my eye, I catch a beautiful skirt standing out of the rows of markets, I push my way through to admire the stunning piece of clothing, I run my hands down the smooth, silky fabric. The bright lights of the skyscrapers blind me as I push my way through all the echoes of phones ringing, footsteps, and shouting of the people surrounding.

The bustling crowd pushes me further forward into the center of chaos, I feel like a child again as I hear the adverts screaming at me telling me what I should do. My claustrophobia kicks in as the fresh air begins to be invaded by the exhaust fumes and smoke. The smell creates a taste in my mouth making me want to puke, but the glorious smell of fresh bread fights back and defends my taste buds. I’m pulled back up by frantic arms and I can see everything, the skyscraper mountains and flashing lights, the image is picturesque.

A claustrophobic feeling sends butterflies in my stomach as the chattering voices distract me from the position I am in, people filling the streets from all directions harshly bump into me. My back hits a glass building with a blast of light climbing the skyscraper as the firmness of the surface strangles my spine, I make my way towards a churro stand. My taste buds erupt as the sweetness slides down my throat. The night sky is filled with bright lights from the advertisements, as the cars speed past in a blur.

Christ the King School Triathlon by Emily B

Christ the King School Triathlon

It was the dreadful morning of the school triathlon which took part on the 19th of February at Jellie Park. It was the start of a gloomy start of the day as I had to get ready and changed in record time as I woke up extremely late. I had dragged myself out of the house and made my way to school.

I had successfully made my way to school with my bike without getting hurt like I normally do. Once I have put my bike away I had gone to class and the morning went by like a blur it was only until we were about to leave to Jellie Park that my hands got all sweaty. We had got there put our bikes away with the fear of falling of my bike and making a fool out of myself. We had been debriefed on what we had to do and now I was just waiting for my race to be called.
“Senior teams swimmers and bikers.”
Finally, I hauled myself up and brushed all the dirt of and walked over to where everyone else was. Once everyone was there we had made our way over to the pool.

We stood there for a while or not that long but to be honest I was bored out of my mind. Finally the swimmers got in the pool and had started their laps, there was no surprise when Charlotte was out of the pool first, then followed by the rest, I was tagged then of I was to my bike. I jade got to my bike and made my way over to the other side to start biking then the recent thought of my first triathlon and me falling of by someone clipping my back tier. I was of with a speed that overtook a few people. 1 Lap…………………………...2 Laps…………………..3 Lap. I was on my last lap ready to go of and tag the runner to start running. I got of made my way to my runner. I put my bike down when I remember all the people who were cheering me on a small smile made a way on my lips. I went to sit down and eat my food blocking out the rest of the world and gazing into space.

I was snapped into reality when I saw my runner come to the finish line claiming the first place for my team. One small pit of pride made its way to me and then the sudden thought came “the one and only ribbon I will get for a school event is first.”

Swimming Sports by Emily B

It was Friday 12th of February, the traumatizing day of swimming sport where all the students from Year 5-8 at Christ the King had to compete in two or more races. The competitive, or the great swimmers are given the opportunity to race for a place in zones.

I was sitting with my house which was Goodson, with my brother and cousin a few people away. I was sitting there wedged between some Year 5 because I couldn't find anyone to sit with. While some of them were talking I was contemplating to go sit with my family because they were so much better than sitting and listening to this conversation I can't recall.

After the long wait my age group and race was called, I quickly got up but was swarmed with butterflies and thoughts of bumping into a rail lane or swallowing a mouth full of water, or bumping my head on the wall since I have no sense of direction as I can't see the wall in backstroke.

The whistle blew, I jumped in the pool getting ready to push of the wall to start. 1……..2……..3 and I push off the wall with as much strength as my legs would take. Using as much force I try to finish, making sure I don't hit my head on the wall. Then finally my fingers brush the wall and my hand makes full contact.

I hopped out of the pool with the thought that I had finished. I’m not the best at swimming but I’m not the worst and I know personally, I did my best to my ability. I go back to where I sit and grab my biscuits.
